Cancer Center Profile
Founded in 1922, Trinity Health was organized by the immigrants who settled Northwest North Dakota. Under the auspices of the newly formed Trinity Hospital Association, ground was broken to build a 30-bed hospital. Over the ensuing decades, Trinity expanded its facilities and increased the quality and scope of care. Trinity Health is now recognized as the region’s leading healthcare provider. As a nonprofit, fully integrated healthcare system, the network of more than 200 healthcare providers, hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and other facilities serves an estimated 12,000 outpatients and 130,000 inpatients each year.
Located in Visalia, in the heart of California’s San Joaquin Valley, the cancer center offers a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care with a team of specialists who collaborate on helping patients navigate their cancer journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) held its annual meeting in San Diego, California, April 5-9, 2014. The following are brief reports on some highlights from the meeting related to cancer risk and health-related behaviors.
The Cancer Hospital of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) is the flagship hospital of the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. It is the only comprehensive cancer center in New Jersey designated by the National Cancer Institute.
The St. Jude Crosson Comprehensive Cancer Center, located in Fullerton, California, is part of the St. Joseph Health System. The cancer center was established in 1998 and includes the Ann G. Fetters Diagnostic Imaging Center, the Fred A. Jordan Family Radiation Oncology Center, and the Kathryn T. McCarty Breast Center.
Via Christi is the largest provider of healthcare services in Kansas, with its doctors, hospitals, senior villages, and other medical services.
The Scripps Cancer Center—Stevens Division is located at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California, and is part of the San Diego County–wide Scripps Health cancer care network.
The Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, is 1 of 41 cancer centers in the United States to receive the National Cancer Institute’s designation as a comprehensive cancer center, and it is the only such center based in the state of Florida.
The Taussig Cancer Institute at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio employs more than 250 highly skilled doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who provide advanced cancer care to more than 14,000 patients with cancer each year.
The University of Arizona Cancer Center is a National Cancer In- stitute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center, providing excellence in patient care as well as a focus on the development and delivery of therapies to reduce cancer-associated morbidity and mortality.
