In August 2012, vincristine sulfate LIPOSOME injection (VSLI) (Marqibo) was granted accelerated approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adult patients with Philadelphia chromosome-negative (Ph-) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in second or greater relapse or whose disease has progressed after 2 or more regimens.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved ado-trastuzumab emtansine (Kadcyla for injection; Genentech) for single-agent use for treating patients with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer who previously received trastuzumab and a taxane, separately or in combination. Approval for ado-trastuzumab emtansine was granted on February 22, 2013.

Regorafenib Benefit in Colorectal Cancer Not Dependent on Mutations

The clinical response to regorafenib does not depend on tumor mutations. Among patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who participated in the phase 3 CORRECT (Colorectal Cancer Treated With Regorafenib or Placebo After Failure of Standard Therapy) study, an analysis of tumor specimens for KRAS and PIK3CA mutations did not predict clinical benefit in the patients assigned to regorafenib compared with placebo, said Michael Jeffers, PhD.
