Testicular cancer is a malignancy that originates in one or both testicles, or testes. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 9310 men in the United States have been diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2018, and approximately 400 men will die from the disease.1 How much do you know about testicular cancer?

Testicular cancer is extremely rare in the United States, but the incidence rate of this cancer has been increasing in the United States and in many other countries for the past few decades, especially in seminomas, which are germ-cell tumors of the testicles.1 Although primarily a disease of young and middle-aged men, approximately 8% of cases are diagnosed in men aged ≥55 years and 6% of cases are diagnosed in children and teenagers.2,3 The overall 5-year survival rate for patients with testicular cancer is approximately 95%.3 Public awareness of the disease needs to remain a priority to improve survival rates and patient quality of life.
