At the Oncology Nursing Society 2018 Congress, Susan D. Scott, PhD, RN, addresses the secondary trauma endured by clinicians when a patient dies because of an unexpected medical event, and the peer-to-peer support team that she and her colleagues formed at her clinic.
The FDA granted accelerated approval to nivolumab based on a notable clinical benefit in a subset of patients who progressed after receiving the standard first-line chemotherapy with fluoropyrimidine, oxaliplatin, and irinotecan.
“The combination of atezolizumab and cobimetinib represents the first potential immune-modifying combination for patients with microsatellite stable metastatic colorectal cancer,” said Johanna C. Bendell, MD, at the 2018 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium.
Women with clinicopathologic high-risk breast cancer had nearly a 50% reduction in prescription chemotherapy, with no increased risk for metastatic recurrence when a cancer gene–based assay was used to guide treatment decision-making, according to new data presented at the 2016 American Association for Cancer Research meeting.
