October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The purpose of this national campaign, which encompasses a wide range of initiatives conducted by local community organizations, breast cancer advocacy organizations, and major retailers, is to educate the public about breast cancer risk factors, promote screening and prevention, support individuals diagnosed with the disease and their loved ones, and raise funds for breast cancer research. Cancers and tumors of the appendix are extremely rare, with an estimated incidence of 0.15 to 0.9 per 100,000 people. The average age of onset is between 50 and 55 years, and the disease appears to affect men and women equally.
